The Veteran Performer Made Her Critically Acclaimed Debut At Catalina Jazz Club October 21 To An SRO Crowd With Her Show “Through the Years With Johnny Mercer”

In the wake of her critically acclaimed debut at Los Angeles’ renowned Catalina Jazz Club October 21, opera great turned jazz sensation Rose Kingsley will be attending the Los Angeles Jazz Society’s 2015 Jazz Tribute Awards & Concert honoring legendary songwriters Alan & Marilyn Bergman.

Special guests and performers at the event include Quincy Jones, Johnny Mandel, Steve Tyrell, Roger Kellaway, John Clayton, Katie Thiroux, Jeff Hamilton (presenter) and Alan Bergman, with additional performances by The George Bohanan Trio and The Julian Gomez Trio with the LA Jazz Society All Star Big Band.

The 2015 Jazz Tribute Awards & Concert takes place Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. at the Montalban Theatre, 1615 N. Vine Street, Los Angeles, CA 90028.

“I am so honored to be invited by LAJS to attend this event,” says Kingsley. “I have always loved singing the Bergmans’ great lyrics and was honored to record ‘Where Do You Start,’ featuring music by Johnny Mandel, on my new album This is My Life.”

In front of a standing room only crowd at Catalina Jazz Club, Kingsley presented her show “Through the Years with Johnny Mercer,” with songs specially arranged by the legendary Bob Corwin – son in law, pianist and collaborator for the legendary songwriter. Among those in attendance was actor Billy Dee Williams, veteran talent managers Morris Diamond (with his wife Alice Harnell, widow of the great pianist Joe Harnell) and Ken Fritz.

The versatile singer, one of the world’s most celebrated opera singers who performed at the New York Metropolitan Opera House (the “Met”) for 15 years and sang with opera companies from the UK to Italy, recently decided to explore the intimate side of her artistry - boldly declaring This is My Life with her exquisitely arranged independent jazz vocal debut album. Produced by Norman Miller under the musical direction of Corwin, the 12 track set features a colorful handpicked mix of classic songs from multiple eras that help Rose share her truest musical soul – jazz with a touch of blues.
