Red Bull Dreamline

(October 12, 2014) The third annual Red Bull Dreamline BMX Dirt contest was held over the weekend, and veteran rider Ryan Nyquist took the title in this peer-judged competition that had some of the world’s most versatile and skillful BMX Freestyle Dirt riders completely destroying the largest Dreamline course ever. Nyquist was on point and had powerful, stylish runs that were punctuated by his signature barspins: 360 jumps all over the place,  amazing alley-oop 270 off the shark fin, 270 with one-handed x-up, and absolutely massive suicide no-handers - one  in his backflip in the last jump was the cherry on the top.

James Foster and Kyle Baldock took second and third to share the podium with Nyquist.

Dreamline was dreamed up by BMX rider Anthony Napolitan and  is a huge event, solely created for the world’s best BMX dirt riders on a massive, painstakingly-crafted course. Twenty-eight riders were invited to compete and another four slots were earned by riders who shredded the course in the practice sessions to be selected by confirmed riders.

This year’s contest was held outside of Asheville, NC, USA at Oskar Blues REEB Ranch on an amazing course designed and built by Napolitan, Adam Aloise, and crew that included Clint Reynolds and Matty Aquizap. The comp began with prelims on Saturday, when the field of 32 riders got cut down to twelve, as riders fought for a coveted spot in the finals. Riders balanced flow, style, and tricks on the  upper and lower sections of the course loaded with rollers, hips, jumps, table tops, and the slick shark fin berm/quarter. Last year’s winner, Pat Casey landed in fourth place, with Pittsburgh, PA’s Chris Doyle right behind him.
