As the pandemic continues to rage on, it’s important that we’re taking time to look after ourselves and others. There are those that are vulnerable, and that might not simply be able to look after themselves alone. With that being said, here are some tips to help vulnerable during a pandemic.

Do Check-Ins With Local Neighbours

Many of us will be able to go about our day without much of an issue, but for those that are vulnerable in some way might struggle. They could be self-isolating due to their age or existing medical condition, and so it’s always a good idea to look at your local area to see where you can help. There’s plenty you can be doing to help support your local community and beyond, so start with your neighbors. There are likely plenty of those that could do with some help from the kindness of strangers and so make it a duty of yours to do a check-in to those around you. It could be as part of a community initiative, or it could simply be something you do along your street or area on your own. Just check in to see if they’re alright and whether they need any assistance from you, whether it’s picking up medication or getting them food.

Set Up Care Plans For Loved Ones

It’s important to set up care plans where you can for those loved ones who are left vulnerable. It’s something that you might need to do within your family or with those in a professional role who ends up looking after those loved ones who are vulnerable. There might be occasions where you need to step in and help, so try to create a care plan and routine that will help your loved ones but is also something that you can do and share said duties.

Have The Right PPE

The right PPE is important to keep those who are vulnerable, safe from harm. And although in some cases, it might be scarce, it’s important to have. There are plenty of places available online and in-store that can help with PPE equipment, including safety and mobility supplies. Make sure that you are stocking up on the things you need to not only protect yourself but that of anyone who is vulnerable and needs it.

Try To Keep Up With Contact

The biggest challenge that’s come from this pandemic is the amount of isolation that has been caused and is still in place. It’s essential to try and keep up with communications where you can because there’s nothing quite like socializing when a lot of your time and other’s time will be kept indoors or marginally reduced when it comes to the number of people you’ll see on a daily basis. Try to keep socializing, even if it’s from afar or over the internet.

Helping the vulnerable in a pandemic is necessary because if you were in the same position, you’d want that help to. Use these tips to do your bit and help.
