From the ever doubting Queer Duck to the lascivious Jessica Rabbit: KLIK! examines the genders

The seventh edition of KLIK! Animation Festival will take place from November 4-9, 2014 at EYE. Cartoons, stop motion animation, 3D productions: prepare yourself for six days of animated shorts from around the globe, masterclasses, premieres and parties at KLIK! 2014. This year's theme program will be Boys, Girls & Beyond!; a border crossing journey through male and female stereotypes, transsexual and gay animations.
Competition: The very best of animated shorts KLIK!’s selection committee has been very busy this Summer. The number of submissions exceeded last year's 1300 films; this year the committee received over 1500 animated shorts from 70 countries. The very best animations will be competing for the KLIK! Awards. The audience will be engaged by voting for the Amsterdam Audience Award.
Theme: Boys, Girls & Beyond! KLIK! went looking for a mix of beautiful, moving, unusual and crazy films on the theme Boys, Girls & Beyond! Animations tend towards exaggerated gender representation. Think of the tough sailor Popeye or the sexy Jesicca Rabbit. But not everybody can identify with those stereotypes. Animation can take you further into the realm of gender. Think of noteworthy characters like Bi-Polar Bear, the ex-girlfriend that never farted and the dog that was a cat from the inside.
Theme: Light Forms Inspired by the McCall exposition Solid Light Films and Other Works in EYE, KLIK! presents Light Forms: a spectacular opening, a film program co-presented by EYE, installations and light animation workshops. Beware of lasers, smoke and fire!
Jam-packed program Besides the competition, the theme programs Boys, Girls & Beyond! and Light Forms, KLIK! presents several feature premières, (avant-)premières, a special noon for kids, workshops and talk shows. And of course Midnight Madness is back again with a collection of the most bizarre and quirky animations of the moment.
