Exclusive property app created for Blok.

Property developers, Blok, have brought innovation to off-plan property buying. Together with their interactive design agency, they have pioneered a one-of-a-kind app that takes 2D floor plans into a 3D interactive space.

The app was designed (exclusively for Blok) and conceptualised out of a need identified by Blok to make buying off-plan an easier prospect than it currently is. Few people that haven’t studied architecture can clearly read building plans, and as such it’s hard to commit to buying a property that cannot be seen or explored in bricks and mortar. The Blok app allows a potential buyer to virtually tour the apartment they’re interested in, months before it’s built.

The app allows users to explore all aspects of the development, from a 3D view of the neighbourhood, information on area highlights, to the building and all of its features. The user-friendly interface allows prospective buyers to view each apartment, where it is positioned in the building and then view it in an isometric 3D model. But the real jewel in its crown is the interactive virtual walk-through of every apartment in 3D, including a representation of views from each of the windows.

“The Blok App is definitely the first of its kind for South Africa and possibly globally. It is the first interactive application built to this intensity to be used in the property industry and we fully expect it to be a game changer amongst property developers and buyers”, says Marco Rosa, MD of Formula D Interactive, who designed the app with Blok.

The functionality is comprised of game-like elements to allow users to navigate through the exterior of the building and interior of each apartment. This method of navigation is widely used and proven in the gaming environment, so it is easy for people to learn when exploring the app for the first time.

In addition to all the 3D inclusions, there are also photo-realistic 3D renders embedded into the app walk-throughs so that users and potential buyers can see as much detail of the finished product before they buy.
