Alliance Française Dubai is back in full form with a season filled with concerts, art exhibitions and performing arts. Aiming to contribute in raising awareness about climate changes challenges ahead of COP21 in Paris, Alliance Française Dubai holds conferences with key speakers on climate change and the burning issue of immigration.
Not forgetting its mission to promote French language, Alliance Française Dubai is proud to inaugurate its new mediatheque with a special room dedicated to education for the young ones through books, magazines AND e-books and video games!

Nice, 1976, Following the failure of her marriage, Agnès Le Roux returns from Africa to her mother Renée, owner of the Casino Le Palais de la Méditerranée. The young lady falls in love with Renée's confident, Maurice Agnelet, a lawyer 10 years elder. This story is inspired by a real French event.

Sept 10 til Sept 30 - Photo Exhibition 'Arctic Sentinels' by French Photographer & Journalist Nicolas Mingasson.

Nicolas Mingasson likes taking photos of populations, men and women who found themselves in extreme situations. His works are from Bosnia, Afghanistan and Tibet. For the past 10 years however, Nicolas Mingasson gave his life and energy to Arctic. From January to September 2008, beyond the Arctic Circle, he worked on a series of portraits of emblematic characters while sharing nothernmost populations lives.

This show is part of the Climate Change series of events initiated by Alliance Française Dubai ahead of COP21 in Paris in November 2015.

Date: from Sept 10 til Sept 30, 2015.

10 Sept – Concert with French Wind Quintet

M Premiere in collaboration with The Dubai Concert Committee and with the support of the Alliance Française Dubai brings you a mesmerizing night of music with the French Wind Quintet. five musicians playing chamber music at The One and Only Royal Mirage.

The French Wind Quintet comprises of Phillippe Bernold on flute, Olivier Doise on oboe, Patrick Messina on clarinet, Julien Hardy on bassoon and Herve Joulain on the horn.

Formed just over a year ago, the French Wind Quintet have all been trained by maestros and performed around Europe and are coming to Dubai for the very first time. The French Wind Quintet project was initiated by the pianist Jean-Efflam Bavouzet. The idea was to give the chance to a forgotten but nevertheless brilliant music score from the composer Alberic Magnard: the quintet for winds and piano.

Members of the Quintet are remarkable and brilliant French instrumentalists, all awarded with First Price in Paris Music Academy and students from Maestros such as Rampal, Pierlot, Portal, Audin or Barboteu. They are currently soloists from the Orchestre National de France and from the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France.

13 Sept – Soiree des associations - French Groups Gathering.

Whether interested with French Arts & Culture and French language courses (Alliance Française Dubai), or in doing business with Frenchies (French Business Council) or even in playing the French popular game of bowls 'pétanque' (Dubai Pétanque), all Dubaians are welcome to come and meet the various French groupes and associations of Dubai at Hilton Dubai Jumeirah Resort.

29 Sept – 'The Economic Challenges of COP21' by Christian De Perthuis, Economist and Professor at Paris-Dauphine University and Head of the Climate Economics Chair.

Ahead of 'Paris-Climat 2015' conference, Alliance Française Dubai and the French Business Council launched a series of conferences and events inviting key players and speakers to Dubai. This September 29, Christian de Perthuis, Economist and Professor at Paris-Dauphine University and Head of the Climate Economics Chair will speak about 'The Economic Challenges of COP21'.

What can we expect of COP21 which will bring together, from 30 November to 15 December in Paris, representatives of 195 countries? What could happen between December 2015 and January 2020, the date of entry into force of the future agreement, which will aim to concretely change the ways of acting on climate change?

Christian de Perthuis' research focuses on the economics of climate change and ecological transition. Author of several articles and books, he is co-author of Green Capital (Odile Jacob, 2013, Columbia University Press, 2015) and co-author of Le Climat, à quel prix? La négociation climatique (Odile Jacob, 2015) He chaired the «Green Tax Commission », which helped the French Government to set up a domestic carbon tax in 2014.

On September 29, Christian de Perth's will also present two of his last books: Le Climat, à quel prix? La négociation climatique (Odile Jacob, 2015) and Le Complot Climatique (L'Harmattan, 2014).
