There are plenty of essential services that are needed during these scary times, and taxi drivers are one such service. While we have grocery store workers putting themselves on the front line along with doctors and nurses, half of those who are out there working hard are behind the wheel of a car and helping people to get from A to B. Uber drivers are making deliveries that are necessary to keep people in isolation fed and watered. Taxi drivers are important, and while lockdown and social distancing is occurring we need them now more than ever.

If you are a taxi driver, you need to protect yourself. You are out on the road, and you are seeing numerous people a day in your deliveries and in your vehicle to help others to get to work. Driving for a living is a stressful thing to do, but when you add the stress of potentially catching a deadly virus? Well, that’s a little more worrying. You already protect yourself when you look into One Sure insurance to keep you safe on the road, but Coronavirus is a little different. So, how can you protect yourself during the pandemic?

*    Maintain Your Hygiene. The experts say that hygiene is vital, so make sure that you are ahead of the game. Having hand sanitiser and other cleaning materials in your vehicle is a smart place to start.

*    Clean Your Cab Regularly. You need to clean down your cab with antibacterial wipes or spray after every passenger sits in the car. This will ensure that you protect yourself from getting the virus.

*    Cover Your Mouth & Nose. You can also wear a mask or a face shield with each journey, and if you want to go the extra mile, provide a box of masks to your passengers. You have the right to refuse anyone not wearing a mask in your vehicle, too.

*    Help Others With Hygiene. We talked about watching your hygiene, but you can do the same for others, too. Provide hand sanitiser gel and tissues in your car, so that anyone who has to sneeze because of hayfever can still keep safe.

*    Seating Rules. Don't allow any passengers to sit in the front next to you. Asking passengers to stay in the back of the car gives you enough space to avoid too close contact, and you can keep a safe distance. Social distancing is hard enough but a taxi is a necessity for most.

*     Ask People To Handle Their Own Baggage. You don't have to put yourself at risk if you don't want to, and you can help yourself by not handling the baggage for other people. Surface germs are a thing, so make sure that you are wearing disposable gloves that you take off immediately, or ask passengers to touch their own bags and open the trunk for them.

Taxi drivers are integral pieces of the puzzle during this pandemic, so you should be as safe as possible while you work.
