July 29: All About Developmental Disabilities Hosts Advocacy Training for Valdosta Parents, Teaching Them to be Advocates for Their Children

WHAT: All About Developmental Disabilities will host an advocacy education training in Valdosta for parents of children with developmental disabilities.  Parents will learn from experts, meet other parents in their community and find out how to be effective advocates for their children.

WHEN: Tuesday, July 29, 2014, 6 - 8 p.m.

WHERE: First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Valdosta. 1905 N. Patterson Street, Valdosta, GA

Developmental disabilities are defined as severe chronic disabilities that limit three or more critical functional abilities.  Examples include Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, autism disorders, fetal alcohol disorders and intellectual disabilities.  These disabilities often manifest early in life (before age 22) and last a lifetime.

• Transitioning to Adulthood
