- Steve Farmer appointed COO of Mabey Hire to strengthen sales and growth

Non-mechanical plant hire supplier, Mabey Hire, has appointed former Balfour Beatty Workplace and Harsco UK Managing Director, Steve Farmer, as Chief Operating Officer.

Farmer has a wealth of experience in the construction and rail industry, with a track record of notable cultural changes in safety and business transformation. He spent over six years in Managing Director roles at Balfour Beatty, almost 10 years at Jarvis and joins Mabey Hire from Harsco Infrastructure.

His role at Mabey Hire will be to strengthen the operations and sales activities, to deliver a growth strategy for the core markets as well as to further develop and promote the company’s reputation for engineering excellence.

Steve Farmer said: “At Mabey, we’re a family business full of dedicated people, my first impression of the culture is one of unity and pride. This is a business where the people truly believe that their best days are in front of them.”

He continued, “The business has grown rapidly, particularly over the last four years, and one of my key challenges is to continue to grow the business whilst retaining our unique cultural identity.”

Mark Rooney, Chief Executive Officer at Mabey Hire, stated: “We’re delighted to be able to welcome Steve into the Mabey family. With his vast industry experience, knowledge and passion I’m confident he’ll be able to help us deliver significant growth and develop our sales operations.”
